If you’re taking an international flight in to or out of Tokyo, chances are you’ll either be stopping by Narita or Haneda airport. We’re previously written about various lounges available at each airport, and in this post we’ll be reviewing our latest experience at the I.A.S.S Superior Lounge -NOA- in Narita airport which we accessed via our Priority Pass membership. Read on to find out our thoughts.

Seating

The first thing you should know about this lounge is that it is quite compact. The room is a small rectangular space with chairs crammed inside to accommodate as many guests as possible. The seats are not the most comfortable as they are fairly hard & sturdy chairs and some of them were also stained/dirty.

The good news, however, is that you will find good availability of power outlets nearby most chairs (though you may need a power adapter).

Seating rating: 5/10

Food and Drink

The food and drink in this lounge was surprisingly good. While we’re not talking table service and fine-dining menus, there was a tasty selection of Japanese dishes including, make your own udon, grilled onigiri (rice balls) and many other options.

The drinks selection was also unique with machines serving soft drinks, Costa coffee, cocktails and beer. There was also a couple wine bottles available.

For the size of this lounge, we were pleasantly surprised with the food and drink offering available.

Food and drink rating: 7.5/10

Facilities

The facilities available are quite basic — there is fairly good WiFi available, you may also find some magazines etc. but given the size of the place there isn’t really much else — and this includes not having a bathroom in the lounge itself.

Facilities rating: 5/10

Ambiance

The lounge really does feel quite cramped and tight — it can be a little difficult to move around as there are so many guests sat in such a small space. The inside is also quite minimalistic so nothing too stand-out in the way of interior design etc. We will say, however, that it is bright & modern inside which is a plus.

Ambiance rating: 5/10

Service

Everything in this lounge is self-serve, so not too much to comment on when it comes to service. The reception staff, however, were very friendly and helpful — when we arrived there was a sign saying the lounge had reached full capacity but when we asked how long it would take for more spaces to become available they kindly let us in which was great.

Service rating: 5/10

Summary

Overall, while quite a tight and small lounge, we found the I.A.S.S Superior lounge a surprisingly good place to sit down for a quick & tasty bite to eat ahead of our flight.
